Pune (Maharashtra) : Shri. Dharmaraj Chandel, a devotee of H. H. Asaramji Bapu has filed a petition with National Green Tribunal under the guidance of Hindu Vidhidnya Parishada (HVP) against ‘Idgah’ slaughter-house at Bhiwandi. The first hearing of the petition was held on 22nd December before the Tribunal. In this petition, Idgah slaughter-house, Maharashtra Government, Maharashtra Pollution Control Board and Bhiwandi – Nizampur Municipal Corporation have been made as respondents.

go_mansKamavari River is being polluted completely by Idgah slaughter-house releasing 5000 – 10,000 litres of polluted water in it. The pollution has led to a strong stink spread in the atmosphere due to which local residents are distressed.

Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) had issued a notice for closure of slaughter-house as per the order passed by Supreme Court on 15th February 2014; still the slaughter-house is in operation. In July and September 2014 also, local officer of MPCB had requested his senior officers for its closure; but no action has been taken so far against the slaughter-house and every day, it is releasing thousands of litres of polluted water in Kamavari River polluting the river as also the atmosphere. Every day, 40-50 big animals are still slaughtered here and local gou-rakshaks are displeased about slaughtering of cows / cattle in this slaughter-house. Considering the situation, National Green Tribunal has admitted the petition and issued notice to Defendants. The case is being pleaded by Shri. Dharmaraj Chandel.
