Anti-national TOI says, ‘We have not insulted National song !’
March 5, 2011
Phalgun Shukla Pratipada, Kaliyug Varsha 5112
Mumbai: The Times of India (TOI) newspapers has given heading of ‘One Day Mataram’ to its sports page thus distorting the words of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’ leading to insult of the National song. Many Hindus have lodged complaints with police stations; but this anti-national newspaper is not ready to accept their mistake. It has informed Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) through a letter that ‘We have not insulted the National song and we will not change the heading ‘One day Mataram’ (It is perversion on the part of TOI to insult National song and on top of it to deny it and even say that they would not change the heading. Boycotting such anti-national newspaper will be the only effective remedy on its insolence ! – Editor SP) HJS has sent an apt reply to the letter.
TOI started publishing such heading insulting National song from 16th February. As the activists of HJS realized it, they started registering their protest through telephone, fax messages, protest letters, emails etc. TOI, however, paid no attention to the sentiments of patriots. HJS activists even lodged complaints with the police station against TOI for hurting patriotic feelings of the citizens. Mr. Shivaji Vatkar, the district-coordinator of HJS for Mumbai, Thane and Raigad districts and Mrs. Varsha Thakar followed up the matter with TOI officers viz. Shankaran, Jaydeep Bose and Unnikrushnan by calling them up and sending protest letters through emails etc. HJS members met Senior Police Inspector Bhanurao Bhaule of Azad Maidan police station and Assistant Police Commissioner Anil Mahabole with a demand to take action against the concerned. TOI issued a reply to HJS after few days in which it has been mentioned that ‘Our newspaper has neither insulted the national song nor it can change the heading of the page. Our newspaper advocates secularism, nationalism and democracy. (Is the newspaper which insults national song patriotic? – Editor SP)
The article ‘One day Mataram’, is an instrument to bridge the gap between rich-poor, rural-urban and different communities through the medium of cricket. In fact, we have awakened national identity by presenting such piece of art. (How can one achieve unity by insulting the national song? It is not only insult of those revolutionaries who sacrificed their life for ‘Vande Mataram’ but also insult of the nation ! – Editor SP) Our newspaper has freedom of expression. (Now the people should decide whether freedom of expression should be allowed for insulting national identity. – Editor SP) ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘One Day Mataram’ are two different things and the newspaper has used them for good cause; therefore, HJS should withdraw its complaint and encourage Indian cricket team and our God (?) Sachin Tendulkar.’ (By renouncing nationalism, TOI is advising to accept the anti-national sport started by the British although it has been rejected by main countries in the world. It is most condemnable on the part of TOI ! – Editor SP)
It has been stated in the reply issued by HJS to TOI that, ‘Vande Mataram’ are the words of our national song which are used by the newspaper to increase its sale. ‘Fever 104 FM’ had also devised a program with the same title; but after lawful protests of HJS, the same has been withdrawn. Today, TOI is hurting sentiments of the patriotic citizens of this country. Even earlier, many such incidents have occurred where TOI has hurt religious sentiments of Hindus. ‘Vande Mataram’ is a national song and every Indian should pay respect to it. There is a decision given by the Supreme Court that nobody had the right to change or insult the national song. A copy of the Court order is enclosed with this letter. HJS has made a demand with the police that they should take cognizance of the letter and take action against the concerned. Investigating officers at Azad Maidan police station and Police Inspector Shinde have assured us of taking further action in this regard.
Few patriotic advocates have issued a legal notice to the Home Minister, Mumbai Police Commissioner and Director General of Police (DGP)
‘Fever 104 FM’ sends apology letter !
Radio station ‘Fever 104 FM’ had organized a program titled ‘One day Mataram’. After the objection raised by HJS, Mr. Vatsa, an officer of radio station at Delhi and Mr. Santosh Kshatriya from Mumbai have sent a letter to Mr. Shivaji Vatkar of HJS rendering apology. The program was being broadcast from 21st February.

HJS protesting against ‘One day Mataram’ |
Mumbai (Maharashtra) : A local radio station ‘Fever 104 FM’ had arranged a program by distorting the national song ‘Vande Mataram’ and named it ‘One Day Mataram’. As a result activists of righteous Hindu organizations from Ghatkopar, Andheri, Panvel, Kalamboli and Thane registered 6 complaints of anti-nationalism against ‘Fever 104 FM’ and ‘Times of India’. (Congratulations to all righteous Hindu organizations and patriotic citizens who registered complaints against this anti-national activity ! Will other patriotic citizens get inspired and start acting in this manner ? – Editor)
At the same time a memorandum regarding this matter was also handed over in the office of ‘Fever 104 FM’. Proud Hindus Mr. Sharma, Mr. Mahesh Pednekar and Mr. Prakash Karandikar of HJS were present on the occasion. Later these proud Hindus went to the office of ‘Fever 104 FM’ at Andheri and submitted a memorandum. The memorandum was accepted by Vinita Chyari -Nadkarni and Alex – officials of ‘Fever 104 FM’. Accepting the memorandum they said that they will convey the sentiments of proud patriots to the higher authorities. (For the last 4 days while patriotic citizens have been condemning ‘One Day Mataram’ through different media and demanding a ban on the program, officials of ‘Fever 104 FM’ have been giving only ritual assurances. If this results into people’s fury then who is responsible ? – Editor)
Picture of Saurav Ganguly in the guise of Subashchandra Bose was compelled to be removed !
A poster depicting Saurav Ganguly as Subashchandra Bose was displayed outside the office of ‘Fever 104 FM’ as an advertisement for the program ‘One Day Mataram’. Activists of HJS pointed out this mistake while submitting the memorandum. When informed that this was an insult to the national hero, the staff of ‘Fever 104 FM’ immediately removed the poster. (Hindu Janajagruti Samiti could prevent this insult to a national hero because they are based on Godly foundation. Will activists of other righteous Hindu organizations learn this and start spiritual practice ? – Editor )

Hindu Janajagruti Samiti registers a complaint against ‘Fever 104 FM’ and ‘Times of India’ in the Police Station related to anti-national activity !
Issue related to insulting the national song ‘Vande Mataram’. Will other patriots of India register a compliant ?
|
Mumbai (Maharashtra) : The radio station ‘Fever 104 FM’ has named one of its programs ‘One Day Mataram’ thereby distorting the national song ‘Vande Mataram’. When the management of ‘Fever 104 FM’ was repeatedly contacted by patriots in this matter, they did not get any positive response. Also they have published an advertisement listing details of their program in the 18th February’s English daily ‘Times of India’ on pages 25 to 28.
Hence Hindu Janajagruti Samiti has registered a complaint against ‘Fever 104 FM’ and ‘Times of India’ related to their anti-national activity. The news related to insulting the national song was published in the daily ‘Sanatan Prabhat’ on 16th February. For the last two days patriotic citizens called the office of ‘Fever 104 FM’ and registered their protest; but Gaurav Sharma, Chief Administrative Officer of ‘Fever 104 FM’ employed a delaying tactic by saying that a decision will be taken after asking the management at Delhi. And today ‘Times of India’ published the related advertisement. (Times of India has published this advertisement insulting the national song for purely commercial reasons and we register our protest ! – Editor SP)
Hence Mr. Shivaji Vatkar – coordinator of HJS for Mumbai, Thane and Raigad and Mrs. Varsha Thakar went to the Azadnagar Police Station today and registered a complaint with Mr. Yashwant Tharwade – Police Inspector. Advocate Mr. Sameer Sawant, was also present. The complaint says, ‘Before independence the song ‘Vande Mataram’ played a very important role in creating a revolutionary urge in Indian youth to free their motherland. Only these words ‘Vande Mataram’ were sufficient to encourage revolutionaries to sacrifice their lives for their motherland. To distort ‘Vande Mataram’ for purely commercial reasons is extremely wrong. This is an insult to the national song, in turn an insult to the nation and hence this action is anti-national.
Hence action should be taken against ‘Fever 104 FM’ and ‘Times of India’

Dear Fever 104 FM,
I was shocked to know that you’ve denigrated ‘Vande Mataram’ song for your commercial use in the context of Cricket World Cup. The advertisement hoardings erected on all railway stations in Mumbai and India contain serious defamation of the song ‘Vande Mataram’ highly revered by all TRUE Indians. Also this advertisement is also flashing on your website. I take it as my duty to protest lawfully against you and Indian Railways to stop the denigration of ‘Vande Mataram’. You, along with Indian Railways must apologise to all Indians for hurting their National sentiments.
With Regards.

Dear Sir,
Sub: 1.Joke on Lord Shiva and Lord Ganesha in your paper page 2 today.
2.Insult of our National Song Vande Mataram through the Ad in Sport page
I am a regular reader of your News Paper since last several years.
But in recent times the attitude shown through some of the articles, Cartoons and jokes in your paper seem to intentionally hurt the majority Hindu community and the nationalist forces.
1. Today the joke on Lord Shiva is one such. You may kindly note that by such actions you are hurting the religious sentiments of billions of Hindus who have immense faith in the deities. You should not use the freedom of expression granted to the media to hurt the religious sentiments of a section of the Society who take such repeated insults in their stride. Imagine the situation of your premises in Bangalore or any part of the country had the joke been about the Prophet.
2. In the Sports Page there is the heading ONE DAY MATARAM. This is a direct insult to the millions of Revolutionaries and freedom Fighters who joined the freedom struggle chanting Vande Mataram and gave up their lives or struggled for the cause of the countrie’s independence.
What kind of message the countries leading Media House wants to give to the Society in this connection?
I was a regular reader of Vijay Karnataka your the Kannada paper from you Media house. But I have been forced to stop because of this kind of Anti HINDU/ Anti NATIONAL attitude by the Editorial team.
Now I have no other choice but to boycott The Times Group unless you tender your apologies through your paper.
Kindly note that for both your actions people can file police complaints for hurting religious sentiments and showing disgrace to the National Song under various sections of Law.
Sincerely Yours
Robin Bopana
