Hindus in Muslim majority areas of Bengal could not even think about the protection of cows; however, due to the awakening created and the programmes implemented after the first All India Hindu Convention, Hindus in Bengal have now started to react. Once, a butcher was carrying few cows for slaughter. When some activists of Arya Pratinidhi Sabha present on the spot confronted him, he replied that he was taking cows for slaughter. He arrogantly said, ‘What is the problem ?’ One activist slapped him twice. Immediately afterwards, a mob of 50-60 Hindus gathered and thrashed the butcher. Then, a crowd of around 500 to 1000 Hindus started agitation and stopped the traffic for a long time. Thus, when anyone could not even think about the protection of cows in Bengal, the cow-protection is being carried out there.
