While reading, always sit in an erect posture, taking care to see that your table and chair do not move. Similarly keep the distance between your eyes and the book to around 30-35 cms. See that the room is well light. As far as possible the light should fall on the book either from behind or from the left side so that when you are reading with the book in your right hand, the shadow of your fingers does not fall on the book. Avoid reading in the sleeping posture.
Close your eyes from time to time while performing any activity for a long time like reading, typing on the computer, drawing, stitching etc. So take a pause after every 15-20 mins and close your eyes for 1-2 mins. Try to concentrate on a nearby object or look far into the distance. After this start reading again.
