On 15th August 1947, Bharat attained freedom from British rule. Hence, every year, 15th August is celebrated as an ‘Independence Day’ in Bharat. This National Day is celebrated with great enthusiasm all over the country.
‘Independence Day’ of any country is a day of pride and honour for that country. On this day, rich tributes are paid to all the great revolutionaries and freedom fighters who gave up everything for the cause of the Motherland and freed it from the clutches of the British. The British who had initially entered Bharat as traders, under the pretext of establishing business, slowly gained control over the total administration of the country and became the rulers of our country.
At the stroke of midnight, on 15th August 1947, Bharat declared its independence from the British rule. It was a night of intense celebrations for the entire country.
Independence Day is celebrated by hoisting the National flag and organising cultural programmes at various places all over the country. The main programme is held at the Red Fort in New Delhi, where the Prime Minster of Bharat unfurls the National Flag and is saluted by gun fires.
