Baking a Cake

A little boy was telling his grandmother how everything was going wrong in his life – problems at school, grades suffering, pressure from friends, problems at home, constantly being sick, etc.

Meanwhile, grandmother was baking a cake. She asked her grandson if he would like a snack, which of course he did.

“Here, have some cooking oil.”

“Yuck,” said the boy.

“How about a couple of raw eggs?”

“Awful, grandmother!”

“Would you like some flour then? Or maybe baking soda?”

“grandmother, those are all yucky!”

To which grandmother replied, “Yes, all those things seem bad all by themselves. But when they are put together in the right way, they make a wonderfully delicious cake!

God works the same way. Many times we wonder why he would let us go through such bad times. But God knows that when He puts these things all in His order, they always work for good! We just have to trust Him and, eventually, they will all make something wonderful ! God loves us so much that he sends us flowers every spring and a sunrise every morning!”

Moral : We can overcome our worries by developing faith in God that He will always take care of us. Regular spiritual practice is a sure way to build such faith.
