SC ends row over Shivaji book

AP Government’s attitude creates Ram Navami controversy
The AP state Government’s attitude in declaring holidays is causing controversy even among the party and official circles. The Government has declared holidays on April 5 for Babu Jagjivan Ram’s birthday and April 14 for Ambedkar’s birthday. The Chief secretary Harinarayan passed orders to this effect using negotiable instruments act. Many citizen associations and groups have earlier requested state Government to declare holiday to financial institutions on SriRama Navami using negotiable instruments act.

HJS complaint against ‘Indian Express’, PCI to take action
‘Saffron Art Gallery’ held an exhibition of paintings by anti-Hindu painter M F Hussain. HJS opposed the holding of such an exhibition. Indian Express called HJS members as ‘rabble rousers’ and termed them as fundamentalists in their article. HJS has therefore, filed a complaint with Press Council of India (PCI). Read more »
