हिन्दू जनजागृति समितीद्वारा विकृत लेखक डॉ. यार्लगड्डा लक्ष्मीप्रसाद को मिलनेवाला ‘पद्मभूषण’ रोकने के लिए आवाहन !

I have understood from following references that Former Rajya Sabha member and Professor of Hindi Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad of Andhra Pradesh has been chosen for Padma Bhushan 2016.

The Padma Bhushan Award ‘seeks to recognize work of any distinction and is given for distinguished and exceptional achievements in all fields of activities including Art, Literature’, etc. When recognising the achievements of any individual for a prestigious award such as the Padma Bhushan, it would be necessary to see how the individual’s activities have enriched the field. When it comes to honouring Art and Literature, it is but natural that the activities would bring out the beauty, glory and depth of Indian Culture and history. However I am appalled to know that someone with a history of denigrating revered icons from Indian History has been selected for this award.

I would like to bring your attention on Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad’s Telugu novel on “Draupadi” in which he has deviated from the original Mahabharata and resorted to obscene and scandalous portrayal of Draupadi. He has not only showed Draupadi, Pandavas and Shrikrushna in poor light but even introduced illicit amorous relationship between Draupadi and Shrikrushna which has hurt my feelings.

Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad’s book that defames Draupadi had been selected for the Central Sahitya Akademi Award. The Hindus of Andhra Pradesh have been outraged by the blasphemous portrayal of Draupadi — a great devotee of Lord Krishna — as an immoral woman by Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad. Several Hindu organizations have filed a petition in the Andhra Pradesh Human Rights Commission stating that this book by Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad has wounded the feelings of all the Hindus. The author is facing serious accusations of having ‘defamed, disgraced and desecrated the character of Draupadi, one of the most revered figures in the Mahabharata Epic’.

Draupadi is a highly revered Hindu icon in all parts of India — from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, from Rann of Kutch to Arunachal Pradesh. Draupadi is one from the most venerated and worshipped Panchakanyas who are worshipped by Hindu married ladies as the epitome of grace, purity, and chastity. These five noble ladies set the highest standards of conduct for Indian womanhood.

I am shocked and pained to see nomination of such anti-Hindu author for highly prestigious Padma Bhushan award.
I urge you to consider the above points and cancel the nomination of Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad for Padma Bhushan award 2016, for having unabashedly denigrated Hindu icons in his book “Draupadi”, and insulting Hindu Dharma and Hindus. Hindus will get disappointed if present government will glorify such person by Padma Bhushan award.
