Union Govt’s anti-Hindu attempt to show that there are more finer things in this country than Meghdoot !
New Delhi : ‘Rashtriya Sangeet, Nrutya and Natya Academy’ which comes under Central Government’s Ministry for Culture, has a ‘Sanskrutik Bhavan’ in New Delhi. It got its name after the immemorial lyric poem ‘Meghdoot’ by the great poet ‘Mahakavi’ Kalidas. Programs in fields like music, dance and theatre are held at this Sanskrutik Bhavan. Its name has however, been changed from Meghdoot and it is now named after Ibrahim Alkazi, the founder Director of a theatre training centre, during a program held on 3rd May in the presence of ‘Sabhapati’ Smt. Sumitra Mahajan of the Parliament.
Invitation cards for this program were distributed in the name of Shekhar Sen, the President of ‘Rashtriya Sangeet, Nrutya and Natya Academy’ in which Ibrahim Alkazi has been described as a renowned scholar in the field of theatre. (In reality, Alkazi was a director of one theatre training institute where he used to charge exorbitant fees and train artistes working in theatre and films. By naming the ‘Bhavan’ after him, it is an attempt to show that Alkazi was better than ‘Mahakavi’ Kalidas. – Editor, Hindujagruti)
Silent demonstrations staged by HJS opposing to change of name
Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) held silent demonstrations outside the theatre to protest against change of name. Other ‘Hindutvavadis’ from Sanatan Sanstha, Ranaragini Division and Bajarang Dal participated in these demonstrations.
Police intimidation !
1. After staging demonstrations for about 30 minutes, police drove away the demonstrators. The activists had given a letter to police station seeking permission for holding demonstrations and it was accepted by police. The copy was shown to police. They saw it, kept it with them and returned it only after activists asked for the same.
2. The activists informed police that they were going to hold silent demonstrations; but police told them that they would be driven out forcibly.
3. Police said that permission was not granted for holding demonstrations and activists were being taken into custody. Police asked the activists to sit in the police van. There were 5 lady activists but there was only one lady police available; therefore, the activists went in their own vehicle to Jantar Mantar and held demonstrations there.
4. Many people tried to know the issue within 30 minutes of demonstrations and few media persons, including Times of India (TOI), collected feedbacks.
5. A reporter of TOI said that the program was not for changing name of Meghdoot theatre complex but it was held only in honour of Alkazi. HJS volunteers then showed the invitation board to him where it was mentioned that the name of Meghdoot Sanskrutik Gruh was being changed to Alkazi.
