Media have depicted a wrong picture that cow was the root cause of all problems. A petition is not filed to ban butchers who cruelly kill cows, ‘gou-rakshaks’ and police; but a petition is filed demanding ban on ‘gou-rakshaks’ who put their life in danger to protect cows. What can be more unfortunate than this ? People who try to protect cows are ordinary citizens. Then, are you going to impose ban on every citizen ? Shri. Chetan Shama, activist of ‘People for Animals’ from Mumbai asked this question while talking about courageous mission of ‘Gou-rakshan’.
Shri. Chetan Sharma said
1. At many slaughter-houses in India, healthy cows are killed under the guise of slaughtering old bulls. The real fact is at many places, even calves are slaughtered.
2. Today’s position is ‘Gou-rakshaks’ may have to lose their life while protecting cows. I have faced such situation. At one place, a police officer was nabbed by butchers and killed in slaughter-house. This news was, however, not published in any of the newspapers other than one local newspaper. The topic of ‘Gou-rakshan’ has been completely misrepresented by media whereas there are people like Tehasin Poonawala who demand ban on common citizens who protect cows risking own life.
3. Money is sent for terrorists to carry out terrorist activities and counterfeit currency is sent to India through the medium of cow-trafficking; therefore, illegal cow-trafficking has to be controlled.
4. Scientists have observed that cow-dung is more precious than a Kohinoor diamond because without cow-dung, land can lose its fertility.
5. Cow-slaughter is one of the causes of global warming. On one hand, there is large-scale slaughtering of cattle happening in this country where as on the other hand, attempts are made for increase in milk production. How can there be balance with such policies ?
