‘Gomantak Mandir and Dharmik Sanstha Mahasangh’ condemns incidents of idol-damaging

Demand for severe action against idol-breakers

Mapusa : ‘Gomantak Mandir and Dharmik Sanstha Mahasangh’ condemned incidents of damaging idols happening in Goa since past few days. ‘Mahasangh’ has demanded severe action against those involved in such incidents responsible for hurting religious sentiments of Hindus.

Office bearers of ‘Mahasangh’ viz. Shri. Narayan Rathod, Shri. Uday Munj and Shri. Jayesh Thali made the above demand during press conference held here. On 3rd July, ‘Tulasi-vrundavan’ and idol of ‘Nandi’ was damaged in the premises of Shrikrushna Mandir at Kalgonde, Margao. At Ravanfonda, other religious symbols were vandalized. The officer-bearers of ‘Mahasangh’ had expressed concern over those incidents during a meeting held immediately after the incidents. Shri. Amar Kavalekar, President of ‘Maharudra Sanstha’, Mapusa; Shri. Urvesh Natekar, the President of ‘Vitthal-Rakhumai’ Sanstha, Mapusa; Shri. Tushar Topale, the President of ‘Chamundeshwar Mandir’, Shri. Nandkumar Raikar, former President of ‘Bhagavati Sanstha’, Haldona etc were present on the occasion.

Incidents of vandalism are condemnable. The purpose of doing such things is hurting religious sentiments. The Government should nab the offenders and file cases against them so as to prevent happening of such incidents in future, stated Shri. Narayanrao Rathavad of ‘Mahasangh’.
