HJS’s demand to ban crackers with pictures of deities and national heroes

Mumbai: During Diwali and other occasions, crackers with pictures of deities and national heroes are burst. With bursting of crackers, the pictures get torn to shreds thus causing denigration of deities and national leaders. HJS has therefore, written to the Controller of Explosives, Indian Government, All India Federation of Fire Works Association, Shiva kashi (TamilNadu), Tamilnadu Fire Works and Armories Manufacturers Association besides Home Minister of Maharashtra Shri. R. R. Patil, Director General of Police and Police Commissioner to bring a ban on bursting of such crackers.

For the past 5 years HJS has been trying to stop sale of crackers with deities pictures to avoid denigration of deities by creating awareness among people. Last year, Shri. Navin Chavda, the President of Crackers Merchants Association had informed that crackers with pictures of deities and national leaders would not be sold as the Association had banned such sale. It was, however, observed that in Shri. Chavda's shop itself, such crackers were on sale.

Taking into account the last year's experience, HJS has written to the main manufacturers and distributors at ShivaKashi in the matter. The managers' members of the Association had told that two years back, they had decided to stop sale of such crackers; but still it is found that some dealers are selling crackers with deities' photographs. Such cases may be brought to their notice. His organization would take action against that dealer or manufacturer member. Therefore, members of HJS are presently keeping a watch. If crackers like Lakshmi bomb, Krushna bomb, Vishnu bomb, Ganesh bomb etc. are found in the market, HJS will inform the Association for taking necessary action.
