Lasalgaon: Restrictions on ‘Dharmacharan’ of Hindu students lifted by convent school

Niphad (Dist. Nashik, Maharashtra): Propagation of Christianity is going on in ‘Seventh Day Adventist Higher Secondary School’ in Lasalgaon. Hindu students were, therefore, denied permission to celebrate their festivals in the school. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) had staged agitation against the policy of the school and made an appeal to stop anti-Hindu acts within 10 days. The school has now lifted ban on Hindu students following ‘Dharmacharan’. HJS has expressed satisfaction over the development.

Under the guise of imparting education, the School undertook activities to convert Hindus, was not displaying photographs of great national heroes in the School, students were not allowed to follow ‘Dharmacharan’, they were compelled to sing prayers of Jesus etc. Recently, in a program presented by students displaying their qualities, the School had put a ban on students for program related to Hindu Deities for which HJS had staged agitations. Hundreds of Hindus attended the program and then HJS gave the above warning to the School. After the time limit given by HJS was over, a delegation of HJS went to the School. During the visit, it was observed that the School had displayed photographs of great national leaders in the School. The School had also stopped compulsion of prayers on students. The activities of conversion were stopped.

Now every day, national song is sung in the School. A holiday was declared on Ganesh-chaturthi and Anant Chaturdashi. Hindu students and parents have expressed their happiness over these developments. The Principal of the School was, therefore, felicitated on behalf of HJS by presenting him a picture of Sri Ganesha and a coconut. A teacher said that the students did not look stressful as earlier. Few students also were very happy with HJS intervention and said that they got holiday on their festivals.
