Temples are managed by governments; as such persons guilty of scams are getting protection. Management of temples should be handed over to devotees so as to avoid scams in Devasthan Samiti and action must be taken against persons involved in such scams ! – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat
Pashchim Maharashtra Devasthan Vyavasthapan Samiti collected Rs. 139.87 crores in 47 years
Kolhapur : We are firm on our views that persons involved in Pashchim Maharashtra Devasthan Samiti (PMDS)’s scam must be stringently punished. No guilty will be given protection in any case. PMDS will undertake developmental work and keep transparency in all transactions. We shall do things in such manner that within a year, PMDS will be considered as an ideal Devasthan, declared Shri. Mahesh Jadhav, the President of Pashchim Maharashtra Devasthan Vyavasthapan Samiti during a press conference held on 23rd August. Devasthan Samiti earned Rs. 139, 87, 50, 931, during the years 1969-70 to 2015-16; along with bank interest.
After deducting the money towards payment of all bills, drought fund, funds for social work etc from the collected amount, the balance amount has been invested in term deposits with banks today, informed Shri. Jadhav. Sou. Vaishali Kshirsagar, the Treasurer of Devasthan Samiti and Shri. Vijay Powar, its Secretary were present on the occasion.
Shri. Mahesh Jadhav said further that
1. Food court and Bhakta-niwas will be built on behalf of Devasthan Samiti. There will be no advertisements of either a company or any bank displayed in the temple.
2. Shops in temple premises will be advised to use paper bags instead of plastic bags.
3. Devasthan Samiti owns many pieces of lands and work has been started to get back all such lands. Misuse of land will not be allowed. Ornaments of pure gold as well as other ornaments like of Bentex are put in common donation boxes. Separate record will be maintained about the same. Ornaments offered to Goddess in Shri Mahalakshmi Mandir will be checked from goldsmiths for their authenticity.
4. Shopkeepers will be instructed not to use chemicals in ‘kumkum and haldi’.
5. There are only 50-55 security guards in the temple. Attempts will be made to engage more guards. A meeting will be held in 2-3 months for development of temple.
6. It has been decided to select a logo for the temple. Samples will be collected from various artistes for making of such logo and one will be selected. The person whose logo is selected as the best, will be rewarded with prize of Rs. 21000/-.
7. From April 2017 till today, an amount of Rs. 37 lakhs has been recovered.
8. Developmental work such as lodgings, food court, parking places, construction of toilets etc are some of the various developmental works on similar lines as carried out at Shirdi and Siddhivinayak temples.
