HJS creates awareness during meeting held by ‘Mohalla Samiti’
Mumbai : Shri Ganesh idols are made from paper pulp under the guise of ‘eco-friendly’ idols but 100 kg paper pulp used for idols pollutes 10,000 litres of water and such paper even absorbs oxygen from water, is the pronouncement made by National Green Tribunal, then why is there insistence on using Shri Ganesh idols made from paper pulp? The above question was asked by Shri. Prasad Mankar of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) while addressing a ‘Mohalla Samiti’ meeting held by ‘Ganeshotsav Mandals’ from Goregaon to Dahisar area under supervision of Dy. Police Commissioner Dr. Vinaykumar Rathod of Circle-12. The meeting was held at Thakur Welfare Hall, Kandivali (East). A VCD prepared by HJS, on ideal way of celebrating Ganesh festival and the actual facts, was shown on the occasion.
Smt. Thakur from Police Security Department gave guidance on precaution and care required to be taken during celebrating festivals. Dr. Rita Savla of ‘Radhe Disaster and Education Foundation’ explained about the reasons for giving priority and making way in traffic for ambulance, carrying patients. One member told about installing Shri Ganesh idol made of paper pulp. Dr. Vinaykumar Rathod explained to him the decision of ‘National Green Tribunal’ creating awareness in him on the issue. About 150 office bearers and members of 150 Ganeshotsav Mandals attended the meeting. Dy. Police Commissioner Dr. Vinaykumar Rathod thanked HJS on the occasion. Office bearers of two ‘Ganeshotsav Mandals’ were impressed with the VCD made by HJS and later, contacted HJS volunteers; requesting them to show the VCD to even other members of their ‘Mandals’ and they would extend necessary help.
