Install idols made of clay : Shravan Hardikar, Commissioner, PCMC

Ganeshotsav meeting organized jointly by Pune Police Commissioner’s office and PCMC

Pimpri (Pune) : Ganeshotsav Mandals should consider installing only one Shri Ganapati idol per ward. All Ganeshotsav Mandals should install idols made of clay and create awareness towards the same amongst people. Attempts may be made for encouraging people to install Shri Ganesh idols made of clay even at homes and increase devotion amongst people. The above views were expressed by Shri. Shravan Hardikar, the Commissioner of PCMC, during a meeting called as ‘Ganeshotsav Shantata Baithak 2017’ jointly organized by Pune City Police Commissioner’s office and PCMC at Acharya Atre Hall on 9th August.

Mayor Nitin Kalaje, Dy. Mayor Sou. Shailaja More, BJP leader Shri. Eknath Pawar, Pune Police Commissioner Rashmi Shukla and members of several Ganeshotsav Mandals and social organizations along with many municipal councilors were present on the occasion. Shri. Parag Gokhale of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti also attended the meeting that was started with lighting of lamp.

Everyone should boycott Chinese products ! – Shri. Eknath Pawar

Everyone should boycott Chinese products. We buy Chinese goods and they earn money. Let us celebrate this year’s Ganeshotsav as expected by Lokamanya Tilak so that patriotism is increased amongst people.

Do not force anyone to give donations ! – Shri. Nitin Kalaje

Force of any kind should not be used while collecting donations. Everyone should think how to prevent pollution.

Play traditional musical instruments during Ganeshotsav ! – Shri. Shivakumar Bayas, ‘Janakar Pratishthan’

Use of ‘DJ’ should be totally stopped; instead traditional musical instruments should be played as per Indian culture.

Mandals should use only two loudspeakers for prevention of noise pollution during Ganeshotsav  ! – Rashmi Shukla

All Ganeshotsav Mandals need to register with Charity Commissioner. Use of loudspeakers should be restricted to two by all mandals so as to prevent noise pollution and only two arches may be erected. Mandals should take care to avoid traffic blockage; start immersion of idols in time and finish it in time.

If Commissioner says ‘No donation of idols’, we shall stop donations ! – Mohan Gaikwad, ‘Sanskar Pratishthan’

We all advocate donation of idols; but we shall stop donation of idols if the Commissioner said so. (Advocating donation of idols is also against Dharma-shaastra; therefore, Gaikwad should stop making such appeal, feel Ganesh-devotees ! – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)

Ganesh idols should be immersed in river ! – Shri. Parag Gokhale

Ganesh idols should be immersed in river instead of artificial water tanks. Idols immersed in artificial water tanks are later collected in garbage vans and thrown in quarries. It is hurting religious sentiments of all Hindus. All Ganeshotsav mandals should install idols made of clay and to avoid all other things. All Saints and evolved people have advised to immerse Ganesh idols in flowing water because such idols not only dissolve in water but make such water and soil, fertile. Nobody pays attention to Pollution Board’s verdict on grave pollution caused by releasing sewage water in river; moreover, it is claimed that immersion of Ganesh idols caused pollution. Immersion of idols in water tanks and donation of idols should be completely stopped.

Anti-Dharma appeal to donate idols as much as possible – Vikas Patil, ‘Paryavaran Sanvardhan Samiti’, Pimpri

(Ganesh idols do not completely dissolve in ammonium bi-carbonate. They are thrown in quarries from the bridge and people of Pune have observed it since few years. Those who say, “We shall decide what is to be done with the idols”, will only desecrate Shri Ganesh due to their egoism. – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)

Flowers and other things offered to Ganesh when immersed in river, cause pollution; therefore, donate the same. We are going to make manure with earthworms. Idols made of plaster of paris don’t dissolve in water; therefore, pollution would be prevented if such idols are not installed. Install idols made of clay. Donate maximum idols to us. What is to be done with the idols will be decided by us and Municipal Corporation. (Donation of Ganesh idols and accepting idols as donation, both these things are ‘anti-Dharmashaastra’. Ganesh idols do not cause pollution of water; instead spread the ‘pavitrakas (particles charged with Ganesh principle)’ of the idols to far off places through flowing water, benefitting more people. Patil needs to try for prevention of pollution caused by billions of litres of sewage water and chemicals released in river water. – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)
