HJS submits representation to North Goa District Collector under its drive for social causes

HJS demands with North Goa District Collector under its drive for social causes : Petrol pump operators should offer facilities to protect consumers’ rights 

Panaji : Delegation of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) submitted representation to North Goa District Collector Neela Mohanan on 10th May demanding that the petrol-pump operators should make all facilities available to consumers at petrol pumps as required as per the regulations. Shri. Ramesh Naik, former Goa-Chief of Shiv Sena, Shri. Chandrakant (Bhai) Pundit, the President of ‘Gomantak Mandir and Dharmik Sanstha Mahasangh’; Shri. Trivendra Naik, Shri. Sushant Dalvi and Shri. Jayesh Thali of HJS and Shri. Raj Borkar of Sanatan Sanstha formed the delegation.

It has been stated in the representation that ordinary citizens have to face several problems daily. HJS is committed to motivate citizens to take active part in incidents of social injustice and give them guidance in their fight. HJS has so far undertaken, with success, many drives to address problems related to social issues and for protection of nation and Dharma.

As a part of the drive for social causes, demands have been made for – free facilities and basic service should be offered to consumers by the Oil and Natural Gas Ministry and petroleum companies as mentioned in Consumer Protection Law; local petrol pumps should make available facility of filter papers for checking purity of fuel, daily register maintained for recording density of fuel should be made available to consumers for checking; if a customer has doubt regarding the quantity of fuel filled, measuring flask should be made available as per rules; a book should be available at petrol pump for registering complaints of customers and a board informing customers about availability of such complaint book should be displayed in front of petrol pump so that it can be easily seen. It has been observed that the above facilities were not available at some petrol pumps.

A copy of this representation has also been forwarded to Indian Oil and Natural Gas Ministry and Consumer Protection, Food and Civil Supplies Ministry of Indian Government.
