It is tradition among Hindus to offer leaves of the tree called ‘Apta’, considered as gold on this day. Taking into account the present condition where Hindus are facing constant attacks, Hindu unity is the only alternative left for Hindus. An exhibition was put up displaying number of banners giving information about various activities of HJS, ‘Dharmashikshan classes’ etc. in Mumbai. Handbills explaining the spiritual significance of offering leaves of ‘Apta’ were distributed to people. Many of them said that they came to know the importance of ‘Apta’ leaves only due to HJS handbills. About 130 workers of HJS participating in the drive in Mumbai extended best wishes of Dassera to 1500 Hindu brethren. Four cells of HJS were set up between Bandra and Malad. HJS workers met 12 renowned personalities and exchanged greetings on the occasion. In Central Mumbai, Shiv Sena’s office bearers and devout Hindus were offered greetings. Many curious enquired about HJS activities at these cells. Bajarang Dal members also joined HJS workers at Gamdevi Mandir, Koparkhairane etc.
