Ramnathi (Goa) : ‘Rajdharma’ was the foundation of ancient traditional system and till 1947; India was governed as per these traditions. Earlier Kings had knowledge of ‘Dharmashastra’. The concept of governing has not been created now but it was given to Sages by ‘Brahmadev’ right from the beginning of the Universe, based on 4 ‘Purusharthas’ i.e. ‘Dharma’, ‘Artha’, ‘Kama’ and ‘Moksha’. Knowledge was imparted to all, based on different ‘Smruti’. Under this, the King only had right to do justice and follow ‘Dharmashastra’ and learning our traditions used to be the primary duty of Kings. Such ‘Rajdharma’ was followed till the year 1947.

The present system came into effect as the British handed over reins as per Indian Independence Law, stated Professor Rameshwar Mishra during the training work-shop for speakers started from today. He spoke on the topic of ‘nature of present governance system’ during the session of this work-shop. Professor Kusumlata Kedia, former Director of ‘Dharmapal Shodha-Peetha’ and an economist and Shri. Chetan Rajhans, national spokesperson of Sanatan Sanstha shared the dais with him. Shri. Rajhans first explained the purpose of holding such work-shop.

Other points mentioned in his guidance by Professor Mishra

1. The present system is flexible. It can be either put to good use or even misused. Making good use is the job of rulers. Rulers need to have necessary will for using it in proper manner.

2. Earlier, various ‘Dharma-shastras’ explained about the system but the drawbacks in the system are due to incompetent rulers.

3. Bringing change in education system is necessary even before bringing change in governance. Students appearing for examinations like IAS and IPS should be given information about Indian traditions and Hindu ‘Dharma-shastra’.
