Haasan (Karnataka) :
The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti conducted a host of events in Haasan, Karnataka as a part of its campaign to educate the people regarding the avoidance of wrong behavior and bursting of fireworks/crackers as part of  deepavali celebrations.
1.    A memorandum was submitted to the Chief Minister of Karnataka through the district commissioner. This memorandum called for an order to stop the production and bursting of crackers; the bursting of crackers having pictures of National heroes and Deities means insult and denigration of the national heroes and deities respectively. Bursting of fireworks/crackers leads to air pollution and sound pollution in a large measure. It is to prevent these issues that this request has been made.
2.    Reporters of the popular Kannada daily Vijay Karnataka and several local periodicals, local “amogha” cable operator were present and they took photographs and reports of the event.
3.    The periodicals as well as the cable operators gave publicity to this event in a significant manner. The “amogha” cable operators telecasted an interview with Samiti’s district co-coordinator, Mr. Harshavardhan related to this topic.

Other Events in the campaign

1.    Every year the Haasanaamba Devi annual festival is held in Haasan for a period of 10-12 days. About ten to 12 thousand visitors come here every day. Seekers of Sanatan Sanstha and Members of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti arranged a grand book exhibition at the venue. Pamphlets containing information about Deepavali and the avoidance of wrong practices in the celebration of festivals were distributed to visitors.
2.    A big flex of size 8×6 feet, highlighting the ill effects of fireworks/crackers was displayed at the temple venue. Thousands of people got the benefit of this information.
3.    Periodicals and dailies of Haasan district published the articles on behalf of the Samiti, related to deepavali and the need to avoid fireworks/crackers.
4.    The members of the Samiti distributed greeting cards to several dharmaabhimaanis. On account of bhavubeeja the lady members of the Samiti tied raakhies to dharmabhimanies.
5.    The deepavali related pamphlets were distributed to people in several places in Haasan district – Chikkamangalore, Belur, Jaavagal, Kushalnagar, Channaraayapattana, Sakaleshapur, Holenarasipur.

Highlights:

1.    One dharmaabhimaani congratulated the samiti on its commendable work, after being impressed with the program telecast on Amogh TV Channel.
2.    Another dharmaabhimaani called Mr. Harshavardhan on phone after reading the article in the daily and invited Mr. Harshavardhan to come to his town stating “let us work together to bring about public awareness”.
3.    Dharmabhimanis who read the contents of the pamphlet distributed at the Haasanaamba annual festival appreciated it and said that Samiti is doing something that is very much needed.
4.    A large number of people were impressed with the display of the ill effects of bursting crackers/fireworks and appreciated the Samiti’s work in this field.
