There are no pictures of Deities and national heroes on crackers – MMC

Mumbai: Mumbai Municipal Corporation (MMC) has sent a letter to Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) to the effect that pictures of Deities and national heroes were not there on the crackers. (On that basis, the MMC is making such claim when even now, crackers with such pictures are available in the market? – Editor SP) HJS has been fighting against the issue for the past 8 years.

A letter dated 29th October 2009 was sent to the Ministers of Maharashtra State including the Chief Minister, Industries Minister, Mayors, District Collectors etc. as a result of which the Joint Director of Industries wrote to the Commissioner of MMC vide his letter dated 11th December 2009 instructing to take steps to stop such denigration immediately.  On 23rd September 2010, Shri. Vatkar of HJS made an enquiry with MMC regarding action taken on the above letter. MMC has replied that no denigration was taking place. A letter conveying MMC’s views has been issued to HJS along with a copy of letter forwarded to the Director Industries.
