Hadiya’s husband was in touch with ISIS men before marriage : NIA

New Delhi : A National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into the Hadiya “love Jihad” case has found that her husband Shafin Jahan was in touch with two charge-sheeted accused of the ISIS. According to the probe, Jahan has been in touch with Manseed and P Safvan, two accused in the Omar-al-Hindi case through Facebook group dealing with activities of SDPI, the political arm of Popular Front of India (PFI).

According to a report in the Times of India, Jahan was in touch with the duo, arrested in October last, during the months leading to his marriage with Hadiya. The case pertains to a conspiracy by IS-inspired groups to target judges, police officers and political leaders in south India.

The report cited that according to NIA, Manseed, and not waytonikah.com, brought Hadiya in touch with Jahan. Hadiya, earlier known as Akhila, got married to Jahan in December 2016. The NIA probe has so far found that Jahan was in touch with Manseed and Safvan through Muneer, a common friend who is known to Sainaba, Hadiya’s court-appointed guardian.

Quoting NIA sources, the report has cited that the accounts of Hadiya and Shafin Jahan had given contradicting claims before the Kerala High Court. While Hadiya was registered on the website waytonikah.com on April 17, 2016 by Sainaba, Jahan subscribed to the website in September 2015. Interestingly, Shafin’s profile was not found in any of the 49 profiles Hadiya viewed online. Similarly, Shafin viewed 67 profile, but Hadiya was not one of them.

The NIA has been probing a possible case of love-jihad in the marriage. Last month, the Supreme Court had asked Hadiya to resume her studies in Salem. She has denied love-jihad and repeatedly claimed that she wants to be “free” and be with her husband.
