Mumbai: A news was published in the ‘Dainik Sanatan Prabhat’ dated 13th October 2006 under a heading ‘Students of St. Joseph compelled to give donation’. On the basis of that news, a delegation of HJS participated in the parents meeting and held discussions with the chief of the campaign Shri. Sudhir Thavi on the issue. The campaign is receiving very good response and harassment of students by the school management is reduced to certain extent.
The members of Hindu Janjagruti Samiti delegation were told by Shri. Thavi that still if any teacher harasses students, it is instructed that a written complaint may be given by such student to his parents. The officers from Education Department will be inspecting those schools and submitting report to the Education Ministry.
The school is compelling students for giving donations towards construction of school building. The parents Committee is collecting information about the condition of the school building under the ‘Right to Information’ rule. Shri. Thavi said that even in that school, there was a ban on putting ‘kumkum’ , mehandi, tying ‘raakhi’, school was conducting examinations during Hindu festivals, telling students to give their ‘pocket money’ to school etc. Presently the school is demanding Rs. 500/- from students. Shri. Thavi said that with the help of HJS, the campaign will be carried on.
