Bagalkot (Karnataka): 34 temples demolished by the Govt.

Bagalkot (Karnataka) : Pro-Hindu Organisations called for a ‘Bandh’ protesting against the Government’s one-sided decision to demolish unauthorized temples. Police oppressed the pro-Hindus who took part in this movement. They stopped pro-Hindus riding on two-wheelers at Vallabhbhai Chowk and lathi-charged injuring two activists. 34 temples were demolished in the drive that went on for the whole day under tight security, informed the onlookers.

The District Administration started the demolition of the so-called unauthorized temples and places of worship from 4.00 a.m. based on the verdict passed by the Supreme Court. By 11.00 a.m., ten temples were demolished and the sites were cleared. Later, workers of RSS and Sriram Sena requested the District Collector Manojkumar Meena to stop the demolition when he warned them that the action was taken based on the Supreme Court’s decision and stringent action would be taken against those who created obstacles in such action. The workers of VHP, RSS, BJP, Sriram Sene expressed their displeasure at the method adopted by the District Administration, raising slogans. Pro-Hindu organizations have given a call for indefinite ‘Bandh’ protesting against the State Government. Pro-Hindus were going to the market to convey their call for ‘Bandh’ on their two-wheelers when police stopped them and beat them up. One youth fell down from the two-wheeler when police circled around him beating him up brutally. Police deflated  tyres of vehicles parked in the market where people had gone for shopping. (The police will have to pay some day, for the sins committed by them against pro-Hindus. – Editor SP) While such oppression of Hindus was going on one hand, demolition work was continued on the other hand.
