Navi Mumbai (Maharashtra) : A meeting was held at Jain Mandir, Vashi under the chairmanship of Saint Pujya Sri. Viragsagar Swamiji and Pujya Sri.Vinamrasagar Swamiji of ‘Shwetambar Jain Sect’ to strongly protest against the proposed abattoir at MIDC, Nerul. In his guidance Pujya Sri. Viragsagar Swamiji paid tribute to ‘Gou-mata’ and said that India cannot exist without the wealth of livestock. He said that cow-slaughter was a blot on the spirit of ‘Bharatmata’ and made an appeal to everyone to unite against killing of cows. Pujya Sri. Vinamrasagar Swamiji explained how cows were being destroyed in this agricultural nation that revered sages. He also made people aware of the sin committed by them by not opposing cow-slaughter. Other dignitaries also expressed relevant views on the subject. It was decided to hold the next meeting on Monday, 22nd November at 9.00 p.m. to plan further course of action. Members of Kaccha Yuvak Sangh, Sthanakvasi Jain Sangh, RSS, Jain Murtipujak Sangh, Bharat Swabhiman Sangh and Sri Digambar Jain Sangh were present for the meeting besides members of Bajarang Dal and Hindu Janajagruti Samiti.
