High court grants permission to Hindu Janajagruti Samiti to submit its stand on the issue of anti-Dharma petition by ANS

Sambhajinagar (Maharashtra): ANS has filed a public interest petition in the division bench of Mumbai High Court in 2005. In the petition it is stated that immersion of Sri Ganesh idols in the public water source caused pollution which was injurious to health. Hence a law should be passed to arrest the immersion of Sri Ganesh idols along with the substances like flowers and other things (nirmalya) used during the puja in the public water sources and provision also should be madein the said law to punish the law breakers. It is also stated in the petition that the ANS should be given the authority to implement the law. Maharashtra government and the Pollution Control Board are also involved as the petitioners.

Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) had given an application to intervene the Petition filed by ANS. Mr. Sudhakar Chapalgaokar, senior advocate for defence on behalf of HJS pleaded before the judge stating that many things connected to the issue were needed to be brought before the court as they were not cited by the petitioners. The High Court took the cognisance of the absence of the petitioners during the hearing and granted permission to the defence lawyer to plead by accepting the application submitted by HJS.
