Jaisingpur (Dist. Kolhapur, Maharashtra) : Robbers broke open lock of Maheshwari Charitable Trust’s Hanuman Temple located in in eighth lane in early morning of Friday. The robbers parted with about 1-1/2 kgs of silver wares including two umbrellas on the small and big idols of Lord Hanuman, idols of Sri Ganapati and Sri Durgamata, a bangle type ring in the hand of Sri Hanuman’s idol amounting to about Rs. 60,000/-.

The robbers tried to break open even the donation box but they did not succeed. The local citizens are angry as incidents of theft are on rise. (Many incidents of robbery in temples have taken place in Maharashtra and Goa; but police have failed to nab any of the culprits. What is the use of such democracy that gives such type of government and police administration? – Editor SP)

Mr. Ramshankar Prasad Shukla, the priest of the temple lives in temple premises with his family. Around 3.30 a.m. he noticed that the temple door was open and things were stolen from the temple. He immediately called up Mr. Satyanarayan Ojha, the Secretary of the Temple Trust and informed about the incident who called up the police. Police reached the temple and did ‘Panchnama’. It has been recorded that goods worth Rs. 13, 800/- have been stolen but the local citizens are of the opinion that the value of the goods was about Rs. 60,000/-. (How can there be so much of difference in the police information and local citizen’s opinion ? How can Hindus believe in whatever police say? – Editor SP)

Compared to incidents of thefts, police investigations are negligible !

The dog-squad brought by the police led the way upto Sangli-Kolhapur road. This is the tenth incident of theft reported in Jaisingpur in the last 15 days. There was theft in Jain Temple in Kadge Farm involving theft of worth Rs. 80, 000/-, house of Girish Pawar in Patel Chowk was burgled and goods of about Rs. 2 lakhs were stolen, theft in Ganapati Temple in Shahu nagar, theft in two shops of cell phones in Debonce (name needs to be checked) Corner and burglary in Karvekar’s house in Khamkar Farm has sent a wave of shock in the city. (Had such incidents taken place in mosques or church, police would have immediately investigated the cases and nabbed the culprits. – Editor SP) In the above cases, however, police have been unable to find out the culprit enraging local citizens.

Police to control cases of theft with participation of locals

Police have undertaken a drive to prevent incidents of theft, robbery etc. in the city with people’s participation. Every suspect and incident will be watched by 250 police allies. The drive has been undertaken since Wednesday with participation of ‘Tarun mandals’ locals, social workers and police allies.
