Opposition to ‘Carnival’ festival in Pedne
Mapusa : Cancel the ‘Carnival’ in Pedne; Immediately pass a law to control population and maintain balance; Rehabilitate the Kashmiri Hindus living as displaced people for the last 27 years and give them their own home land; Immediately curtail the increase in the rates of railway and bus tickets during Hindu festivals, were the demands made under the banner of Rashtriya Hindu Andolan held on 28th January at Mapusa Municipal market main gate.
The Andolan commenced after blowing of a conch shell. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS), Sanatan Sanstha, Ranaragini wing, Gomanatak Mandir and Dharmik Sanstha Mahasangh (GMDSM), devout Hindus from Pedne, Mapusa, Sambhajinagar (Vasco) and Sakhali were present on this occasion.
Shri. Satyawan Mhamal said, I protest against the organising committee for organising Carnival festival on the Day of Mahashivratri. Shri. Haresh Korgaokar said, all of us should oppose the Carnival by going to Mandre on 13th February. The Government should protect our culture; but the government is actually attacking the very root of it. This is the reason why our young generation is getting inclined towards materialism.
