Pune: HJS agitation to stop denigration of Deities

Pune (Maharashtra): Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) staged strong agitation to protest against denigration of Deities and incidents of theft of idols, other valuable material etc. taking place in temples. The demonstration was held in front of the office of the District Collector by more than 100 devout Hindus who participated in the agitations. Slogans were raised like ‘Idol-breakers have to be punished’; ‘Condemn the Government that does not find out idol-breakers’ etc. by the devout Hindus.

Representation submitted to the District Collector Mr. Vilas Deekshit of Hindu Mahasabha, Mr. Dinesh Nayak of BJP, Mr. Chandrashekhar Shinde of Lal Mahal Utsav Committee, H. B. P. Subhash Maharaj Kamathe, taluka President of Warakari Mahamandal, Shirur, Mr. Sunil Ghanavat of HJS and Mrs. Anjali Deshmukh of ‘Ranaragini’   branch were the members of delegation who submitted representation to Mr. R. K. Gaikwad, the additional District Collector demanding punishment for the guilty. In the discussions held with Mr. Gaikwad, the members of delegation brought to his kind notice how denigration of Hindu Deities, Holy Scriptures and their places of worship was taking place through different media. Copy of the representation submitted to the additional District Collector has also been forwarded to the State Chief Minister, Dy. Chief Minister and Home Minister.

A warning was given by HJS to start agitation all over the State if the Government fails to find the idol-breakers promptly.

Many alert Hindus sought information about the agitation and joined signature drive. The news of the agitation was broadcast on radio.
