Agitation to continue till the proposal to build slaughter-house in Navi Mumbai is cancelled – Viragsagar Maharaj

Navi Mumbai (Maharashtra) : The proposed abattoir in Navi Mumbai has brought together all communities in its protest. The agitation will continue till the proposal is cancelled. The above statement was made by Jainmuni Viragsagarji Maharaj at Vashi on Sunday. He was addressing the meeting organized by the Committee formed to oppose construction of abattoir. Mr. Vijayshastri of Arya Samaj, Swami Kamalakshdas Maharaj of Bhagavat Dham, Belapur, Swami Krushnaswarupdasji Maharaj of Swaminarayan Temple, Vashi, Pujya Dr. Dave Maharaj of Mata Amrutanandmayee Math, Jainacharya Lalitshekhar Surishwarji Maharaj and Vinamrasagarji Maharaj etc. attended the meeting.

A big rally was taken out from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk in Vashi to the venue of the meeting. The rally then merged into a ‘sabha’. Mr. Manohar Gayakhe, the Dy. District-chief of Shiv Sena, Mr. Suresh Havare, BJP’s Thane district President and many members of pro-Hindu parties and organizations viz. Shiv Sena, BJP, VHP, Bajarang Dal, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, RSS etc. were present on the occasion.

Viragsagar Maharaj said, “Killing of animals is like killing of Indian culture. If people stop consuming non-vegetarian food and switch over to vegetarian food, the new slaughter-houses will not function and present slaughter-houses will also have to be closed down. After the success of this movement, movement to oppose abattoirs all over India will be taken up. Under this movement, the Government will be forced to close down all unauthorized abattoirs, to oppose the Central Government’s plan to set up new abattoirs in the next 5 years etc.

1,00, 000 slaughter-houses are unauthorized – Vinamrasagarji Maharaj

Vinamrasagarji Maharaj said, “There are 40,000 authorised abattoirs and 1,00,000 unauthorized abattoirs in the country. The sins committed by evils in the society are on the rise and virtuous are keeping mum on all issues. Thousands of cattle are slaughtered illegally in this country everyday and how can we say ‘Mera Bharat Mahan.’ We will not follow the path of violence; but sacrifice ourselves and will not allow building of any abattoir. These abattoirs cause harm to the environment.” Pujya Dr. Dave Maharaj said, “We do not get peace of mind even though science has advanced so much. People will stop eating non-vegetarian food once they become aware of its adverse effects.” It has been decided to hold ‘Ahimsa Conference’ next Sunday as the second stage of the movement.
