BJP MLAs prepare to present the topic in Legislative Assembly session

HJS submits memorandum to BJP MLAs Devendra Phadanavis, Vikas Kumbhare, Krushna Khopade and Vijay Ghodmare

Nagpur (Maharashtra) : Hindus are more in number compared to the followers of other religions in India. Today the minorities like Muslims are permitted to teach ‘Quran’ in madarasas and Christians, to teach ‘Bible’ in convent schools; but why permission is not granted to Hindu students to learn ‘Bhagavat Geeta’? Like others, Hindu students should also be taught ‘Bhagavat Geeta’ in school. The above demand has been made by a delegation of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) through a memorandum submitted to BJP MLAs- Mr.  Devendra Phadanavis, Mr. Vikas Kumbhare, Mr. Krushna Khopade and Mr. Vijay Ghodmare. The BJP MLAs said, “We will send letters to the Education Minister and the Chief Minister of the State for teaching of ‘Bhagavat Geeta’ in schools; besides, we will try for the schools within municipal limits of Nagpur where ‘Geeta’ can be taught.” Mr. Subhash Zanvar, Mr. Dilip Pagnis, Mr. Ashtankar, ‘Zilha Parishad’ member of BJP and Jayant Bendre of Sanatan Sanstha were the members of the delegation.

It has been mentioned in the memorandum of HJS, “In the temples taken over by the Government, Hindus are not imparted ‘Dharmashikshan’. Bhagavat Geeta’ is studied by people all over the world. Few days back, Judge S. N. Shrivastava of Allahabad High Court had stated that ‘Srimat Bhagavat Geeta’ should be declared as the national ‘holy scripture’ of India. The Government should, therefore, grant permission to study the most superior literature i.e. ‘Bhagavat Geeta’. ‘Bhagavat Geeta’ should be taught for at least one hour every day in schools.”

Representation submitted to prevent attacks on Nation and Dharma

HJS also submitted representations to BJP MLAs from Nagpur demanding strict implementation of order preventing use of plastic national flags, passing of law for preventing denigration of Deities, stringent action against illegal transportation of cows and their slaughter and stop harassment by the police of pro-Hindu party workers who try to stop slaughtering of cows. The MLAs assured to write and follow up the issues with the Government.
