Got back temple from Muslims by fighting legal battle : Adv. Avdhesh Rai

Adv. Avdhesh Rai, Prayag, UP

The village had temple which was grabbed by Muslims illegally in the Mughal regime and it was converted into dargah and masjid. To prove that these premises was formerly temple, I had to fight a long battle. The local leaders of Congress tried to give it a communal (Hindu-Muslim) angle and warned the police that a huge communal riot would occur at that venue because of which a large police force was deployed there. In fact even the local Hindus did not help me.

With passage of time when this matter calmed down I took it in writing from Muslims that these venues were not their places of worship and then held a press conference. The media took up the issue and exposed how the Congress leader had provoked the riots. Thereafter on Navami (ninth day of the Hindu lunar calendar), an idol of Deity Hanuman manifested there and it was installed amidst rituals.

Shocking verdicts !

In one case the Allahabad High Court ordered the demolition of an illegally constructed masjid. When the matter reached the Supreme Court then it asked whether the local government could provide alternative land for the masjid. When the High Court declares the masjid itself as illegal, while Supreme Court directs the government to give it an alternative venue for construction of masjid.
