HJS effect: Mockery of ‘Hindu Faith’ deleted from program on ‘Star Pravah’

Mumbai: A programme by name ‘Sankalpachi aishi taishi’ was to be telecast on ‘Star Pravah’ channel celebrating Christian New Year. Some characters from Hindu Scripture ‘Mahabharat’ and Hindu Deities were intended to be ridiculed in the presentation. But after the advice by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) the program was telecasted cancelling the said ridiculing portion from the script. Soon after getting the news about the mockery to be telecast by ‘Star Pravah’ Mr. Shivaji Vatkar, HJS co-ordinator of the Districts Mumbai, Thane and Raigad contacted the management of ‘Star Pravah’. News related to this was published in ‘Sanatan Prabhat’ Mumbai Edition, on 31st December. Members, who are also proud Hindus and other well wishers of the Samiti registered their protests and advised the management of ‘Star Pravah’. More than 200 from Manchar (District Pune), more than 50 from Ambad (District Jalna), hundreds of the supporters from Sambhajinagar, Pune, Nasik, Mumbai etc advised ‘Star Pravah’ peacefully controlling their resistance. Some councilors and peoples’ representatives from Manchar also contacted ‘Star Pravah’.

Later ‘Star Pravah’ management conveyed  to the people contacting them saying that they were going to cancel the said ‘mocking part’ from the programme. There was no response to the phone calls in the evening; but the mockery portion was deleted when the programme was telecast between 10 to12 at night. Mr. Vatkar expressed his satisfaction while talking to the representative of ‘Sanatan Prabhat’ and also congratulated ‘Star Pravah’ for honouring the feelings of proud Hindus.

Owner of ‘Shakuntala’ channel from Bhor (District Pune) intimated ‘Star Pravah’ saying “I am getting complaints from the viewers of my channel. They have told me to stop the telecast from ‘Star Pravah’ if the ‘mockery’ in today’s program is not deleted by you.”
