O Hindus, Anti-Hindu Congress Government is not going to take any action against miscreants involved in Temple thefts. Now Hindus should unite and protect their temples on their own !

Margao (Goa): There has been no breakthrough in the major thefts that took place in temples from south Goa, including the one at Sri Shantadurga Quitolikarin Devasthan, from where valuables like gold and silver items, cash and others worth Rs 11lakh were stolen by unknown persons.

On Sunday the south Goa Collector, Mr G P Naik, along with other officials visited and inspected the area, even as police teams are doing everything possible to achieve a breakthrough. The locals however, have express concern over the trend of rising temple theft cases and inefficiency on the part of the investigating agencies to solve the cases.

A major theft had taken place at the temple of Sri Shantadurga Quitolikarin Devasthan on December 26, while on December 22, unknown persons had effected entry inside Sri Sateri Temple near Sarvodaya High School in Curchorem and decamped with valuable items of about Rs. 2.5 lakh.

A month before that, on November 22, some unknown persons had entered inside the temple at Sri Chandreshwar Bootnath Devalaya at Parvat at Paroda and decamped with cash and other items like silver and gold worth around Rs. 18.80.lakh.

All these major temple thefts cases have been registered by the police; sadly not one of these has been solved. In fact locals at these places say that the police have not even been able to get clues to carry forward the investigation.

The police have constituted committees, led by Mr Santosh Dessai, Mr Raju Raut Dessai and Mr Tushar Vereneker, to investigate the cases, however, their efforts have not borne any fruit as yet. The police have expressed confidence in cracking these cases, however, the lack of progress does not bring forth much confidence in the police work. Police constables of the respective police stations, besides personnel of IRB are seen camping at the areas where the thefts have taken place, however, many locals say it is a classic case of closing the gate when the horse has bolted.

Recently, the Home Minister, Mr Ravi Naik has visited the temple and was briefed on the details of the thefts, and he had directed the police officers to put in more work to achieve a breakthrough in these cases, however, this has not come about.

In the meantime, committee members and devotees of the various temples which have fallen victims of these thefts, have threatened to come out on the streets to protest the rising incidences of temple thefts and the inability of the police and the authorities to either solve these crimes or to put in measures to prevent these thefts.
