Shiv Sena Tamilnadu unit organised a protest in front of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments office at Nungambakkam, Chennai on July 2nd, 2018. Shivsena strongly urged the state Govt to handover temples to devotees. After Dravidian parties took control of temples, Govt and officials as well as politicians who do not have any faith in God, in our age old customs and practices have totally mismanaged and looted our valuable properties. Temple idols of Deities worth lakhs of Crores were smuggled to foreign countries. Gold and emerald idols worth thousands of crores were sold out for monetary benefits. Officials holding very high posts to the level of endowment board commissioner were framed charges of mismanagement and corruption of temple properties. Temple lands to the extent of 5 lakh acres were encroached by politicians and anti-social elements.
Shiv Sena party unit have already submitted memorandum to Chief minister of Tamilnadu and organised demonstrations few months ago with the same demands. As a last resort Shivsena decided to besiege HR&CE office. Police had denied permission to the protest. They have mentioned Tuticorin incident and warned that it may lead to judicial custody and agreed to give permission for a demonstration in a permitted place. Shivsena’s point was that anti Hindu organisations assemble, demonstrate and incite violence without any permission. Why all pressure is put on law abiding and disciplined nationalists. Shivsena activists politely denied their advice and decided to continue with protest.
More than 200 Police men were deployed around HR&CE office. A sense of fear and intimidation was spread to cancel the protest. Shivsena decided to go alone to avoid difficulty to like-minded organisations.120 Shiv Sainiks assembled and protested. Selected cadres defied and courted arrest. Party’s State unit President G. Radhakrishnan, State Secretary Karnan, State Organising Secretary N. Balajiraman, Senior karyakartha Saravanan, Sivakumar C. S. Murugan, Chennai city General Secretary. J Vijayakumar, Central Chennai pramukh Dhakshnamurthy, South Chennai pramukh V. Vijaykrishna and 37 other Shivsainiks courted arrest and later released on bail.
Malai malar, Dinakaran , Dinamalar dailies and polymer, win, kalaizhar TV channels, and few more television channels and print media people covered the news. Hindu Makkal Munnani, Bharath Hindu Munnani and Vivekananda Peravai pramukhs Sri. V G. Narayanan, Sri. R D.Prabhu, Sri. Mura. Kumar called on Shivsainiks to extend support. A number of temple committee members from Chennai and other districts are approaching Shivsena now with their Temple related issues.
