Mumbai: The National Flag, which is an identity of the Nation, is hoisted with great reverence on 26th January; but the same flags are found on the roads, trampled by people in the afternoon on the same day. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) therefore, submitted a memorandum to 15 police stations between 10th to 15th January for prevention of such insult of our National Flags. Senior police inspectors from all police stations promised to extend cooperation to this drive. Delegation of HJS members submitted such memorandum to police stations at Colaba, Worli, Dadar, Shivaji Park, N. M. Joshi Marg, Shahunagar, Byculla, Kala Chowki, Bhoiwada, Rafi Ahmad Kidwai Marg, Mahim, Matunga and Nehrunagar etc. Similar memorandum was submitted even to Director General of Police (Maharashtra State) and District Collector’s office.

Sub-inspector Kanade from Shivaji Park Police Station said, “Nobody tries to pick up the flags lying on the roads on Independence Day and Republic Day. Police cannot reach everywhere. There are very few organizations like HJS who undertake drive to maintain sanctity of National Flag. We will extend full cooperation to you.”
