Thane (Maharashtra) : This year too, like every year, drive to ‘honour National Flag’ has been undertaken by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) on the occasion of Republic Day. The drive has been receiving good response from people. Hundreds of signatures have been collected to ban use of plastic flags. Memoranda on the subject were submitted to Tehsildars and police stations at Thane, Bhiwandi, Kalyan, Murbad and Dombivali etc. Lectures to create awareness were held in 10 schools and 2 colleges in Murbad town.

HJS will keep empty boxes at many places in different areas to collect the thrown flags so also display boards will be put up. Awareness will also be created through VCD to be shown on local cable channels and in schools along with lectures.

Few policemen gave their responses to HJS workers by saying that it was actually the job of the police which is done by HJS. The efforts made by HJS were commendable.
