Amalner (Dist. Jalgaon, Maharashtra): Homage was paid to Hindu martyrs on behalf of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) on 19th January to commemorate displacement of Kashmiri Hindus. The program was held in Subhash Chowk which was decorated with lighting of earthen lamps around the statue of Netaji Subhashchandra Bose. Mr. Dada Pawar, former municipal councilor garlanded the statue. Mr. Shashank Deshmukh of HJS addressed the gathering of about 300 devout Hindus.
He said, “Kashmiri Hindus were given 3 alternatives in the year 1990 to either convert to Islam, get ready to die or leave Kashmir within a time limit of 24 hours. Nearly 4,50,000 Hindus chose the third alternative and left Kashmir. The Government is still treating them as refugees accommodating them in camps. Those Hindus, who did not leave Kashmir, were severely tortured and killed. We are observing this day to remember their sacrifice and pay homage. We can also face such situation if we do not unite. Hindu unity is the need of the hour.
Highlights
1. About 200 Hindu women, men and children had come for the program covering distance of 3 kilometers on foot carrying banners and raising slogans creating awareness among people. They were also making an appeal to people to join the rally.
2. Mr. Kailas Patil of ‘Shiv-mandap’ made available sound system for free.
3. Invitation for the program was given by writing on the boards in the village.

Mumbai: On 19th January 1990, the Muslims living in Kashmir had openly asked Hindus to leave Kashmir at the instigation of Benazir Bhutto, the then Prime Minister of Pakistan. Hindus were given three alternatives either convert to Islam, keep women back and leave or get ready to die. Thereafter, there was mass killing of Hindus in which 90,000 Hindus died and 4, 50,000 Hindus were displaced. These displaced Hindus have not yet been rehabilitated. Give justice to these Hindus at least now, was the demand made by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) on Wednesday on the occasion of Displacement Day of Kashmiri Hindus.
Demonstrations were held near ‘Kailas Lassi’ shop at Dadar Station. More than 75 activists of Vajra Dal, Bajarang Dal and Sanatan Sanstha took part in the agitations. The signature drive undertaken on the occasion received response from 1750 Hindus.
