Inauguration of Hindu Dharmajagruti Sabha by lighting a Samai (an oil lamp) |
Bhatkal (Karnataka): A Hindu Dharmajagruti Sabha was held here on 23rd January 2011 at 5 PM at Sri Tirumal Venkataramana Sabha Bhavan. It got overwhelming response from devout Hindus.
The Sabha began with the blowing of the conch and recitation of Vedic mantras. Then the inauguration of Hindu Dharmajagruti Sabha was done by lighting a Samai.
Sri Sri Sachchidananda Jnaaneshvara Bharati Swami in his speech said, “this is not the time for the Hindus to be sleeping like Kumbhakarna (the rakshasa from the epic Ramayana). This is a time to wake up and be alert to strive against the decline of righteousness in the world. It is regrettable that Hindus have the attitude of `what if my neighbor’s house is burning, I will wake up and act only if my house catches fire.’!" He stressed that the points that are being discussed in today’s meet were not something that one just listened to and went away. He called upon everyone present to take home the messages from this meet, contemplate upon them and begin to follow Hindu Dharma as well as get prepared to protect Dharma. He expressed dissatisfaction at the way the government was using the funds collected through the contributions of devotees in Hindu temples for the welfare of other religions and thus being unjust towards Hindus.
Praising the publications of Sanatan Sanstha he said, “Each book published by Sanatan Sanstha is unique and in that you will find information that you will not find anywhere else. Each one of these books inspires readers to live righteous lives’.
Speaking about the mission and activities of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti he said, "Hindu Janajagruti Samiti is doing the great task of fighting against Adharma and also inspiring people to work for the cause of Dharma as Sri Krushna has done once upon a time". He called upon all Hindus to work for the cause of Hinduism and be prepared to protect Hinduism.
Mrs. Vasanti Murdeshwar addressed the audience on behalf of Sanatan Sanstha. She highlighted how it is spiritual strength through devotion to God alone that will see seekers and all humanity through the difficult times ahead. She urged those present to fortify themselves through spiritual practice.
Mr. Venkataramana Nayak, speaking on behalf of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti highlighted the ill effects of government take-over of temples. He also drew attention to the Karnataka government’s unjust and unlawful demolition of temples by labeling them as unauthorized by ignoring the rights of the people. He emphasized wherever the people had protested against the demolition the authorities had been forced to withdraw. This shows the strength lies in unity and thus Hindus should protest attacks on Dharma unitedly.
