Face of Sriram depicted like a mango in Marathi Theatre Convention

Members of HJS, who had gone to explain about denigration, were threatened

Ratnagiri (Maharashtra) : The all-India Marathi theatre convention started here from today on the grounds of Gogate-Jogalekar College. Chowgule group of industries from Jaigad has put up a huge statue of Sriram outside the pavilion erected for the convention. The face of the statue has been made to look like a mango which is denigration of Sriram. (Lack of understanding about the divinity in the Deities and lack of ‘Dharmashikshan’ lead to denigration of Deities and shows the importance of ‘Dharmashikshan’ required to be imparted to Hindus. – Editor SP)

Members of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) had gone there to explain about denigration when they were threatened with breaking of their hands and legs by the workers in the Convention. Mr. Sanjay Joshi and Mr. Ashok Patil of HJS observed the denigration and immediately made enquiry with the workers in the Reception Cell of the convention. Four workers came together and told the HJS members, “We are also Hindus. Bhagavan Vishnu had taken 10 incarnations; among them were a pig and a fish also. Bhakta Prahlad saw God in everything, even in a pillar; likewise, we also saw God in mango. (The workers used stories from ‘Puranas’ to justify their unrighteous acts which is most condemnable !- Editor SP) You are opposing even a good film like ‘Shahanpan Degaa Devaa’. (The workers claim that a film where there are despicable dialogues like calling a person Draupadi for removing clothes, shows their culture. – Editor SP) You see denigration in everything. If you oppose here, we will break your hands and legs.”(Will these workers show such daring to people of other religions if they had complained of their religious sentiments getting hurt? If they had dared to say anything, what would have been the condition of the convention? Hindus do not behave in that manner, therefore, others talk in this language with them. – Editor SP) HJS members tried to explain to them but the workers did not listen.
