Belgaum : At the time of Assembly elections to create rift in Hindu society Ex. Congress Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had conspired to divide Shiv-worshippers Lingayats and to declare their having independent religion. Actually Congress was the loser because Lingayats rejected to support congress after having realised this conspiracy. To show their repentance now, Congress leader D.K. Shivkumar said that, it was their mistake to declare Lingayat as an independent religion and people should pardon them.

Although D.K. Shivkumar has accepted their mistake, ex. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah the architect of this conspiracy and the Congress High Command should apologise standing before the statue of Basaveshwar and take back their recommendation, demanded HJS Convener of Karnataka Shri. Guruprasad Gowda. He was addressing the press conference held in Kannad Sahitya Bhavan. Sou. Kanakanmeli representing Lingayat community and Shri. Hrushikesh Gurjarof HJS were present there.

Shri. Guruprasad Gowda said further, “It is not enough to apologise superficially; because Hindu society will not forget the conspiracy and will not pardon them. Looking to the tradition followed by Congress, it appears that congress also is following British policy, ‘Break and rule’. Will not tolerate any more the conspiracy of dividing Hindus on the basis of prant, caste etc. Hence we demand that Congress should force Siddaramaiah to apologise standing before the statue of Basaveshwar and to take back the recommendation made to the Central Government.

Sou. Manisha Kanakmeli representing Lingayat community said, “In 12th century Anubhav Mantap was established to unite all elements of Hindu Society and now you are trying to destroy it. Hindu religion is a magnificent tree. If its branches are cut then the tree is bound to suffer.”
