Enact law for protection of religious traditions observed at Sabarimala Temple ! : Demand made by devout Hindu activists during RHA held at New Delhi
New Delhi : Law should be enacted in Parliament for preserving religious traditions observed at Sabarimala Temple and cases filed against demonstrating devotees should be immediately withdrawn, was the demand made by Shri. Suresh Munjal, Coordinator of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) for Haryana and Punjab States, during demonstrations staged under aegis of ‘Rashtriya Hindu Andolan (RHA)’ at Parliament Road.
Shri. Munjal said further, “Supreme Court has passed verdict allowing women from all age groups to go to Sabarimala Temple. Protest marches were staged by thousands of men and women led by various pro-Hindu organizations, at Thiruvananthpuram, Kollam, Alappuja, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulum and Palakkad in Kerala to oppose women’s entry in this temple, after Supreme Court’s verdict. More than 3500 devotees protesting against Supreme Court’s verdict were arrested by Kerala police and cases were filed against them. It is most unfortunate and condemnable that devotees staging demonstrations, in lawful manner, for protection of religious traditions were arrested and cases were filed against them.”
Shri. Subhash Jindal, a devout Hindu activist and industrialist and Shri. Harakesh Chauhan of VHP also addressed the demonstrators.
Conduct inquiry into suspicious death of Fr. Kuriakose, the main witness in nun’s rape case in Kerala !
Bishop Franco Mulakkal was arrested by police under accusation of 13 times raping a 44 year-old nun from Syro-Malabar church, Kottayam, Kerala. He was, however, granted bail within few days although the accusation against him was quite serious. After Franco was released on bail, dead body of Fr. Kuriyakose Kattuthara, who had testified against Franco, was found in suspicious condition in St. Mary Church on 22nd October. Fr. Kuriakose was the main witness in the rape case. Bail granted to Bishop Franco Mulakkal in nun’s rape case, should be cancelled and inquiry should be conducted into death of Fr. Kuriakose was the demand made during demonstrations staged under RHA.
