Mumbai (Maharashtra) :
Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) paid homage to Swatantryaveer (Swa.) Savarkar on the occasion of his Memorial Day at Mumbai and New Mumbai. A signature drive was undertaken at Worli Village, Jogesjwari (E) and Koparkhairane with a demand that the Government should now print currency notes with picture of Swa. Savarkar. More than 1000 devout Hindus and patriots joined the drive by putting their signature on the representation. Along with HJS, there were about 70 workers from MNS and Shiv Sena etc. who took part in this drive.  

Koparkhairane (Maharashtra) :
A program was organized on behalf f MNS at Gulabchand Dairy Chowk, Sector 15 in Koparkhairane to commemorate the Memorial Day of Swa. Savarkar. HJS members also took part in the program. Mr. Ashok Bhogale, an office bearer of MNS, Mr. Jasvindar Singh Bhatia, Vice-President of Maharashtra Transport Sena, senior Police Inspector Valture and members of HJS were present on the occasion. Mr. Nandaraj Thapar, a descendant of the great revolutionary Sukhdev Singh offered a poetic homage, composed by him in Hindi, to Savarkar. ‘Drushti’ channel held interview of Mr. Ashok Bhogale of MNS in connection with the above drive. He said that the program was arranged to make the young generation aware of the great nationalism shown by Swa. Savarkar and sacrifices made by him and his family. The channel interviewed even Mr. Amol Jogalekar of HJS.

Jogeshwari (E) (Maharashtra) : HJS drive was undertaken near Lokmanya Tilak Ganesh-idols immersion lake to pay tribute to Swa. Savarkar. Mr. Vishwanath Sawant, the dy. area-chief of Shiv Sena offered garland to the picture of Swa. Savarkar. Here too, there was good response from the citizens for the said drive.

Worli Village (Maharashtra) : Near the office of Shiv Sena ‘Shakha’ No. 188, Mr. Suryakant Koli, the Dy. Chief of the ‘Shakha’ and Rosy Lobo, the coordinator (women’s wing) garlanded the picture of Swa. Savarkar.

Highlights

  • Shiv Sainiks from this ‘Shakha’ No. 188 extended cooperation for the program.
  • More than 20 members of women’s wing of Shiv Sena were present for the program.
  • Mr. Devendra Kandalegaonkar, a devout Hindu presented the song written by Swa. Savarkar titled ‘Jayostute….’ with lot of feelings. 
  • Two devout Hindus were very much impressed with the program and requested HJS to organize similar program in their area so as to make young Hindu children aware of the history of our great national leaders.

Andheri (E) (Maharashtra) : HJS and Hindu Mahasabha jointly organized the program to pay homage to Swa. Savarkar at Malpa Dongri No. 3. A signature drive was undertaken to make a demand with the Government for printing picture of Swa. Savarkar on the currency notes. About 250 devout and patriotic citizens joined the drive by signing the representation.  Mr. Yogesh Ilawadekar of Hindu Mahasabha was also present on the occasion.
