Pune: Silver mask of the idol stolen from the temple

Pune (Maharashtra): A silver mask weighing 51 tolas was stolen from Kalubai Temple at Avsari Budruk in Ambegaon taluka during the day. The cost of the silver mask as per today’s market rate is about Rs. 27,000/-.  The temple is away from the main residential area and was open whole day for the devotees, on Mahashivaratri.

People noticed that one young man about 30-35 years of age, was moving suspiciously in that area on a red motorcycle at about 3.15 p.m.; but not much attention was paid to him thinking that he might be a devotee.  Few women noticed at about 6.00 p.m. that the silver mask was missing. The local residents then crowded the temple. (Hindus should force the police to nab the culprit rather than just crowding the place and discussing the matter ! – Editor SP) A compliant has been lodged with the police station in this context.
