HJS Effect : A play distorting ‘Ramayana’ stopped at Hassan

Hassan (Karnataka): Students of Sree Vidyaniketan Polytechnic College had planned to stage a play titled ‘Modern Ramayana’ a parody based on the holy scripture which was opposed by activists of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) and devout Hindus in lawful manner. As a result, the show did not take place. (Congratulations to devout Hindus from Hassan who prevented, in lawful manner, mockery of Hindus’ Holy Scripture ! All Hindus should learn from this incident ! – Editor SP)

The news about such play was received just half an hour before the show was to be staged when Mr. Harshvardhan Shetty of HJS called on the organizers of the program and the Principal of the College and requested them to cancel the show of such play. (How many Hindus show such promptness? – Editor SP) The Principal said, “This play is organized only for the purpose of entertainment.” Mr. Shetty immediately replied, “Such type of entertainment causes denigration of our Dharma; therefore, please do not stage the show of this play. If the play is staged, we will protest against it.” The Principal declared cancellation of the play due to such warning.

Mr. Kattay Shivkumar of VHP and Mr. Parthasarathy, a devout Hindu were with the HJS activists. More than 1000 students and parents had gathered to watch the show. HJS activists spread the news about such denigrating play by sending SMS to many devout Hindus; therefore, many devout Hindus called up the Principal and organizers advising them to cancel the show. Many people gathered near ‘Kalabhavan’ and strongly opposed staging of the play. Later, the Principal informed HJS members about cancellation of the play and requested them to stop sending SMS to others.
