Maharashtra: HJS intensify agitation against anti-superstitions act

Demonstrations by HJS at Panvel & Nashik for withdrawal of proposed anti-superstitions Act !

Hindu devouts taking initiatives in the signature drive in Nashik

Panvel (Maharashtra) : Many Saints have criticized harmful superstitions while impressing upon the society importance of faith. Even then, few atheists are pressurizing the Government for passing this anti-Constitutional Act which will bring restrictions on Hindus from following ‘Dharmacharan’. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has been trying, in lawful manner, to cancel the anti-Hindu Act for the past 8 years. The Government is, however, trying to pass the Act without seeking advice from any Hindu Dharma Gurus / religious leaders or HJS. HJS has been staging agitations at various places in the State to protest against the Government. As a part of this drive, demonstrations were held yesterday near Panvel Bus Depot and in Nashik. Maharashtra Government and Shivajirao Moghe, the Minister for Social Justice had promised to have discussions with Warakari Sampradaya, Dharmacharyas, Saints and HJS before passing the proposed Act; but the Government is hatching a conspiracy to pass the Act in the forthcoming budgetary session of Legislative Assembly without discussing it with anyone or not inviting anyone for concerned meetings. The Government’s such move was strongly condemned during the demonstrations. About 50 persons including HJS activists and devout Hindus took part in the agitations. A signature drive was also undertaken to protest against the Act and the signed representation was submitted to the Government by a delegation of HJS. 

Demonstrations were held at Pavannagar Bus-stand, Pavannagar area and CIDCO. People were explained about the proposed Act in detail and signature drive was undertaken which was supported by 650 devout Hindus. Many people came forward to sign the representation. H. B. P. Shri. Shantaramshet Wamanshet Dusane (Sonar), the coordinator of Nashik District Warakari Mahamandal was present on the occasion. About 50 people including activists of ‘Sant Shri. Asaramji Bapu Yuva Seva Sangh’, Bajarang Dal, HJS and Sanatan Sanstha took part in the demonstrations. H. B. P. Shri. Shantaramshet Dusane said, “Warakari Mahamandal totally supports this agitation. It is our demand that all related laws should be cancelled by opposing Andha-shraddha Nirmulan Samiti (ANiS).”

HJS has undertaken the task of uniting all Hindus and educate people about our culture. This is a very good work. All of us from Sant Shri Asaramji Bapu Yuva Sangh oppose this Act. We will attend all your programs related to protection of Dharma whenever we are invited.

2. Shri. Harshal Salunke, Bajarang Dal, Nashik city : ANiS and other politicians are hatching a conspiracy to term culture and religious sentiments of Hindus as superstitions. In fact, nobody can exactly describe what is superstition. If this Act is not opposed, this secular Government will not hesitate to punish those who believe in God.

3. A Police Inspector : HJS programs start on time and end also on time. We feel no tension about its programs. We feel secure. (It is a hard slap given to the Police Department who always keep an eye on every program organized by HJS as if it is some terrorist or rioters’ organization ! – Editor SP)

Agitations in Western Maharashtra

HJS held agitations in Karad, Mangalwedha, Pandharpur and Nanded in Western Maharashtra against this proposed Act. In Karad, 500 devout Hindus put their signatures on the representation opposing the Act whereas at Mangalwedha, 35 devout Hindus joined the agitation. Agitations were held in Sindhu-durga in which 100 devout Hindus took part.
