Grand Procession on ‘Sriram Navami’ at Yeotmal

HJS participated in the Sriram Navami procession at Yavatmal

Yeotmal (Maharashtra): ‘Sriram Janmotsav Samiti’ organised the grand procession here on the auspicious occasion of Sriram Navami. Many pro-Hindu and spiritual organizations took part in the rally that was taken out in an atmosphere full of devotion. These organizations had prepared ‘floats’ depicting some enlightening scenes.

The rally was started at 4.00 p.m. after celebration of the birth of Lord Rama at 12.00 noon in Sriram Mandir at Jaihind Chowk. The  attractive idols of Sriram, Lakshman and Goddess Seeta made by devotees of Sriram were carried in the procession in a chariot drawn by several devotees. Devotional songs were sung, ‘lazim’-band and a group displaying daring sports had joined the rally. There were cenes depicting Sree Ganesha making circumambulation round His parents, scenes from Lord Hanuman’s life history attracting attention of the devotees.

A demonstration presented by HJS on importance of chanting God’s name also generated lot of interest. ‘Rangolis’ were drawn at number of places, there were big posters showing pictures of Sriram holding bow and arrow. The city was decorated with saffron flags and flower-‘toranas’. Yeotmal city was looking like Ayodhya resonating with ‘Jai Sriram; Jai Sriram’. More than 50,000 Hindus were present to watch the festivities. 

Highlights

1. Sriram devotees were joining chanting after listening to the importance of chanting explained by HJS
2. Many devotees were motivated by the slogans raised by HJS and boards carried in the rally.
3. Many Sriram devotees were overwhelmed with divine devotion.
