Nagpur: Citizens beat up a hooligan for damaging Sri Ganesha’s idol

Nagpur (Maharashtra) : A notorious hoodlum  from Tandapeth, Pachpavali area damaged the idol of Sri Ganesha. When people from the area tried to set him on fire; but he managed to give a slip to them. 

The detailed news of the above incident is – Lokman Kene alias Bapu Bansod entered Sri Ganehsa Mandir at 6.30 in the morning. Some construction work is going on in the premises of the temple. He removed the idol of Sri Ganesha and threw it in the drain. He broke picture-frames of different Deities. This was observed by few local residents. They immediately went to Lokman’s house and asked him to leave the area; but he started abusing them. The people then caught hold of him and gave him a good beating; then they poured kerosene over him and tried to set him on fire; but he managed to flee. Police reached the place of incident and the residents made a demand to file a case against the criminal.

Hooligan Bapu Bansod used to grab land from Tanda Peth in Pachpavali area which was not owned by anyone and rent the place out. An idol of Sri Ganesha was installed on the land of NSP on behalf of Navayuvak Sri Sharada Utsav Mandal in the month of March so that Lokman did not grab even that place. The local residents have suffered harassment from the hooligan for several years. They claimed that the police have not been taking action against him. In the mean while, Lokman is being treated at Mayo Hospital for his injury. The police have now registered a case against Lokman and search is on to nab his accomplices.
