Amaravati (Maharashtra) :
The anti-superstitions Act proposed to be passed by the Government is a misnomer and it is actually anti- Hindus. There are many provisions in this Act which can restrict observance of custom, traditions, celebration of religious festivals of Hindus. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS), therefore, staged demonstrations between 5.00 p.m. and 7.00 p.m. at Rajkamal Chowk to oppose the said Act. More than 350 devout Hindus joined signature drive undertaken on the occasion; signing the representation to be submitted to the Government against passing of the Act.

Mr. Hemant Khatri of HJS explained the participants about the anti-Dharma provisions in the proposed Act. The local news channels ‘R. C. N’ and ‘City News’ interviewed Mr. Khatri. About 50 devout Hindus took part in the demonstrations. There was also auspicious presence of H. B. P. Shyamsundar Nichit Maharaj. He said, “The proposed anti-superstitions Act will impose restrictions on the good, cultured traditions of Hindus; therefore, Maharashtra Warakari Mahamandal will oppose the Act.” Besides Mr. Khatri, the other HJS members present on the occasion were Kiran Duse, Girish Komerwar, Amol Wankhede, Mrs. Madhavi Rambole and Mrs. Smita Thakare.
