Amravati (Maharashtra): A memorandum was handed over to the Chief Minister through the residing District Collector, Mr Sachin Kalantre on behalf of the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti in opposition to the proposed Anti-Superstitions Act. The state government is trying to bring in Anti-Superstitions Act under the influence of some atheist organisations who do not believe in God and religion. Even though the act indicates that it is against human killings and cruel and inhuman traditions, a thorough study of the act clears shows that this act is for bring a ban on religious practices. The government is trying to bring in this law again with a new tricky name, ‘Maharastra Narbali, Anya Amanviya ani Anist an Aghori Pratha, tasech Jadutona hyana pratibandh va tyanche samul uchhatan adhiniyam 2011’. A memorandum indicating that act should not become a law, was presented to the Chief Minister by the District Collector of Amravati. Samiti’s co-ordinator Mr. Amol Wankhede and activists Mr. Pramod Pachkhede, Mr. Narendra Shrirao, Mr. Prasad Komerwar, Mr. Akash Chikhalkar and Mr. Nitin Atalkar along with other Hindu activists were present on this occasion.
